edgy downtown phoenix engagement session the monroe street abbey

Edgy Downtown Phoenix Engagement // Casey & Sloan

// Edgy Downtown Phoenix Engagement Session //

When Casey first contacted, me she told me she was dreaming of an edgy downtown Phoenix engagement session. Something that had a lot of mood and had I ever heard of The Monroe Street Abbey? OH. YES. I had been dreaming of shooting at this gorgeous! They were big on making sure the engagement session style flowed well with their wedding photos. I’ll be seeing these two again late this Fall for their wedding at The Ice House Phoenix.

For their first look, Casey managed to find an old wedding gown at a local Goodwill paired with a classic leather jacket. The second look just got even better. If you know me, I am all for black on black and these two NAILED their outfits. Black boots, leather jackets, fishnets. I’ll be on the sidelines taking style notes.

Now, a little history lesson about The Abbey. It was first built in 1929 for the Phoenix First Baptist Church. Inside it is full of gothic architecture, grand columns and its signature rose window. Unfortunately, in 1984 a fire burnt the roof down which created the now courtyard-like appearance in the center of the building.
