POV you send a desert gal to the East Coast for a Chicago winter engagement session in downtown and you have two things – a frozen desert gal and an EXTREMELY happy gal. Nothing gets the inspiration flowing more than shooting in a location that is vastly different than home.
Olivia and Leon were on the tailend of an incredible vacation across the US from Hong Kong. While visiting, they decided to set up their engagement session in the city for the New Year. Leon, a lover of architecture, felt that Chicago was the perfect location to do it with the rich history found around the city.
We knew going into the session that the weather would be COLD and definitely a little blustery. To break up the amount of time we spent outdoors, I suggested starting off at one of the many incredible museums found within the downtown Chicago area. We landed on The Art Institute of Chicago for the first portion of the engagement session. The museum boasts some truly incredible architecture features the Leon is so drawn to so it felt like a perfect fit. We all loved the modern curved staircase as it was a great contrast to the outdoor photos we took later.
After adventuring the many galleries, we bundled up and headed outdoors to finish their engagement session in downtown Chicago. The thrill of walking through the busy city in the cold gave way to laughter and PLENTY of snuggling to stay warm.
Their winter engagement session in Downtown Chicago ended up being the cherry on top to their travel across the US. For me, it was the perfect way to start off the New Year with a little adventure. Maybe next time I’ll make it out for one of Chicagos beautiful Spring seasons for an engagement session.
